Fintech Company from Brazil: iBeta Level 1 Success
Introduction
We were approached by a software engineer of a financial services technology company working end-to-end on the credit journey. Founded in 2018, the company has quickly become one of the leaders in the Brazilian fintech market thanks to its fast development speed and scalable technology
In 2024, the team set a new goal: to achieve iBeta Level 1 certification for the active biometric authentication component, a strategic move to increase the credibility of the company and go global. Moreover, thanks to the development of the model, the client develops new products and enters new markets
Challenges
The iBeta certification process is complex and expensive – failure of a single attempt incurs high financial and time losses. The client company aimed to:
- Pass certification on the first attempt
- Avoid operational capacity for independent data collection
Moreover, the client had the necessary data requirements:
- Active liveness — gradual approach of the face to camera
- Correct distance, no artefacts
- High image quality, clear validation for spoofing in liveness phase
Solution
We provided a turnkey dataset, specially built and tested to pass iBeta 1 certification. We also have a ready-made solution for iBeta Level 1 certification
In the process:
- We reshot some of the videos so that they exactly matched the client’s request
- We finalized the dataset and replaced inappropriate video sessions
- The data was re-validated and put into a format suitable for all stages: capture → validation → liveness assessment
We accompanied the client every step of the way: from technical advice to customisation for real test scenarios
Results
- iBeta Level 1 certification on the first attempt: The company successfully passed the certification without deviations or delays. The client avoided repeated testing costs and saved resources with an out-of-the-box solution
- All data validation phases passed without deviation: Data successfully passed the rigorous phases: capture → validation → liveness, including active biometrics. We adapted the dataset to non-standard technical requirements and replaced part of the video in the process
- Continued co-operation: preparation for iBeta Level 2. The client was satisfied with the quality of service and the result. The company came to us again – now for a more complex and expensive certification stage.
